    MA in Interpreting and Translation Studies

    Spanish-English Track

    This program prepares interpreters and translators to work in the language industry in a variety of fields – media, foreign affairs, business, law, sports and healthcare delivery. The curriculum focuses on translation and interpreting skills, post-machine editing strategies, expert-in-the-loop role, and AI-related issues in the language industry, as well as remote interpreting. We offer two tracks as part of this program:

    Profession Track
    This track prepares you to successfully enter competitive job markets worldwide and significantly enhances your current language professional profile. This is a 30-credit hour program designed to be completed in 1 year (full-time) or in four semesters (part-time) making it convenient for working professionals. It is offered both in-person and online in a flexible mode.

    Research + Profession Track
    In addition to the Profession Track coursework, an internship, a research methodology course, an applied research project (link to ARPs winners), and a range of specialized electives provide students with solid preparation to enter competitive job markets (link to Job Profile page) or to pursue a doctorate in translation, interpreting, and related fields. This is a full-time program requiring at least 36 credit hours (link to courses), designed to be completed in 2 years. All courses are taught onsite at the Wake Forest University campus. Students typically apply for admission to start in the Fall semester and then complete the program in 4 consecutive semesters.
